Faraway Skies

One thing that I get yelled at about a lot is my inability to do nothing. From the time that I realized that hard work is what gets you places, taking a day to do nothing hasn't been something that I've had much practice in. I figure I'll relax when I get where I want to in life. Lately though, I'm beginning to see that perhaps that's not the healthiest outlook to have.

The never ending AS revision, university research, ACT exams, SAT studying, book lists, coursework, driving lessons and part time work has left me drained; everything this year has come one after another and I really haven't been able too afford to waste a day and recharge my batteries.

But this week I decided to take some time and just connect with everything that I haven't been able to do amidst the craziness. I finally finished one of my favorite book series, I'm slowly but surely making my way through all ten seasons of Supernatural (no spoilers please), I've sorted out all the junk in my room and I've even found the time to go running with a friend. It's amazing how much better I'm feeling now that I've just pressed pause. This week is my comfy blue jean wearing chill time and I have to say, I really am loving it.

I've been attempting to write on Faraway Skies since January but everything I write down never seems to feel right. It's like a nine month long writers block. But I'm back (and hopefully to stay) so I won't bore you with the details of what happened during my hiatus. But I will write you a lovely little list of the major things; just so you can get to know the older, wiser (one does hope) Chelsea.

1)The braces are gone. Corn on the cob>life.
2) Exams were passed...even maths to my surprise.
3)Life as an A level student is not at all like I thought it would be. College, as it turns out, is more stressful than the wait for season six of the Vampire Diaries.
4)Remember that lovely yellow hair I was sporting since this post? Well, that's gone! Hallelujah. From now on, listen to my mother on anything hair related.

And finally:

5)I finally ticked something of the incredibly long bucket list: Go to Paris.

So to summarise in five points, that's been my life for the past nine months. Fun and hectic. Joyful and a whole lot of stress! But really, all you could ask life to be.

It seems like I barely post anything these days. Between a combination of exam revision and awful weather, taking photos is all but impossible. One of my New Year's resolutions was to be more active on Faraway Skies so I'm aiming to post at least once a week. Bare with me guys!

So...how has everyone been? These photos were taken on the only day of sunshine I have seen since well before Christmas. Forget the polar vortex; us Brits may actually need to invest in an ark! It was so nice to see the sun sneak through my window yesterday that I teared up a little. There is just something about the sun that makes everything a little better, I think. It's only just turned January yet I'm counting down the days until summer! It's 160 if you were wondering...

You know Buddy? The human/elf of the film Elf? Well...I am channelling his optimistic outlook this Christmas. I keep squeaking at the mention of anything Christmasy, I am just too excited to hand out my presents, eat overcooked (or undercooked; you can never tell with my nan) turkey with the family and snuggle up and watch those cheesy low-budget Christmas movies. Gotta love the Halmark movie channel!

Long time no write, eh? It's been almost one month since I have even looked at Faraway Skies. When the heck did life get so damn busy? Is this a part of growing up? Being to busy to do anything remotely pleasurable? I promise you, my untimely break has had nothing to do with anything remotely glamorous. Blame school work and crappy weather for that one. But I'm back! I persevered through the dreaded mock exams and revision days and piles and piles of Pythagoras Theorem (still don't understand a word of it) and have emerged a new, older and less yellowed hair girl. Though still one that sucks ass at maths...
